I must confess: I've been quite lazy lately.
It's not that I WANT to be lazy, but I try and try to snap out of the lazy mode and its just not happening. As I'm not the kind of person that sits through life and doesn't inspect the situations closer, I have given this a lot of thought and came up to the conclusion that there isn't something particularly wrong, I'm just going through an "Un-Exciting" phase in life.

I already did the partying, the wreck-less driving, the binge drinking and everything in between. I've lived in many places, done many things and met many people; and for a couple years now I have been dealing with pretty much nothing but the 'adulting' routines: making sure that life doesn't fall apart and making sure I have a 'secure' future -- whatever that exactly means.

Of course in the mean time, I've ran into some common if not mandatory 'bumps' or 'right of passage' situations: the shitty bosses, the bad business partners, people trying to screw me over, others successfully doing so, senseless drama, and the heavy weighted 'what is next?'s' that come up as soon as things settle into a comfortable manageable place.

It's the Un-Exciting times in life- as I have concluded after digging into the problem.

As you, my dear reader, may or may not know as of yet, there are times in life when absolutely nothing exciting is happening. It seems nobody really talks about it, so you will most likely have to just wait and find out for yourself and you will realize it when you find yourself smack dab in the middle of it. They are the kind of times when you have to do nothing but take care of errands, pay bills, work just to pay the bills, and if you are lucky, put some savings aside so you can spend them by creating the occasional outings that distract you from the lameness that is actually going on. --which is perfectly acceptable if I may say so.

I've spoken to a few friends about this and seemingly so this is a common affliction, so the bad news is: yes this is part of life; and the good news is, I'm not the only one going through this, and in fact, I'm doing quite well. Why do I say that? Because the un-exciting items I'm having to take care of and get through are actually related to the bigger picture and vision I have for the future. This phase is directly related to the goals I have been chasing for some time and getting closer little by little --- getting closer thanks to taking care of the un-exciting things, the ones it takes me so much to drag myself out of bed to take care of and much rather stare at the ceiling rather than doing them. While it may seem going through a phase such as this might be a problem, the real problem is if you have no vision or bigger goal at the end of the tunnel, and you allow this to BECOME your life (which also happens quite a lot- just think of all the people who have been at the same boring middle management jobs that are not related to their passion at all to get the picture).

The key to getting through the un-exciting times in life, in my opinion, is to make sure you have a vision for the future, to have big goals that are worth getting excited about and not just average ones that are so achievable they don't excite you enough to push forward. These goals need to be strong enough to make you want to work out hard to get in shape, change your eating habits and give up all the yummy fattening stuff, work a second job to be able to pay for that start-up business, and going to bed at 1 and waking up at 6, so you have time to get it going, all while you are working a full time to take care of the base needs such as housing, food, cellphone, insurance.

Sure one day perhaps we might all have personal and executive assistants to take care of the bullshit of life, however in the mean time you can do as I do, and title the crappy to do list of life "Assistant work" (which is all the stuff that I have to take care of for myself, but one day plan to relay to my assistant(s)).

We all want the glamour, fun and excitement of a very well put together life, but sometimes forget that in the path to success and while swimming in the soup of adulthood, we simply have to get up and get through the BS, get it all cleaned up, and carry on. We have to force ourselves to deal with the little annoying things to be able to get to a point where we have earned the right not to deal with them anymore, but it we don't deal with them ourselves right now, we may be stuck dealing with them forever (want it or not) and then, this will become our existence.

So with that in mind, I leave you to consider this all so that whenever you find yourself in the middle of them, you can approach the 'Un-Exciting' times, with a little optimism energy and punch, knowing that there is a bigger reason to get through them with a big fat smile.;D
